    Day Twenteen

I just practiced for an hour...

Continuing on with yesterday's theme; exploiting one technique over a variety of chords. I just practiced for an hour, non stop and it felt like 5 minutes. Yes, I did the stupid 24 minute warm up; who on earth thought that was a good idea?...

    Opportunity 19

    Today was Fun!

I'm sick of this warmup routine. I can't wait to change it up next month. Today was fun, thanks to @sebcrookes for jamming with me. We discussed ways to elongate improvisation ideas by taking a technique and using it across all seven modes of the major scale.

    Small Goals - Big Rewards

Generally, my life revolves around the number 16. I hear music in 16th notes (or semi-quavers to all of you traditional folk) and so whenever I can hear music, I'm trying my hardest to figure out how to play it. Today was about having fun. I cannot stress how beneficial it is to practice every day; small goals - big rewards. See you tomorrow.

    Isn't that weird?

I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings...

Day 15.So I've started each session with a 24 minute warm-up which is doubling as a coordination exercise. I started with 16th notes at 85 BPM, expecting it to increase the further this project goes. What I didn't expect is that I've been slowing down the metronome, arriving at 70bpm today. Isn't that weird?I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

    Less is more

I once watched a video where @paulgilbert_official and @nathaneast had a jam over one chord and it changed my life. That video still inspires me to this day. Less is more.

It will only ever exist there and then

Deight. Reyt. This 24 minute warm-up dealio is good. Great, in fact. I feel a lot of improvement over the last week. Tonight was about improvisation. I feel that improv is the most important part of being a musician; it's where you find out who you are. It is all of your inspirations merged into one. It's everything you've practiced and it will …

On the seventh day of Sidmas...

On the seventh day of Sidmas...

Recently, me and a student were looking at ways to explore more of the fretboard after he mentioned feeling "stuck" in one place on his guitar. So, we took both minor and major pentatonic shapes and combined them into this crazy three-note-per-string pattern. More options, more inspiration and there's always more to find.

Dominant 7th arpeggio with chromatic notes

Post no. 6 Sometimes it's good to break the monotony; here's a sweet dominant 7th lick I've been working on for a couple of years. I love these kinds of licks. Ciao. P.S. Yes, I warmed up for 24 mins. And yes, it is getting easier... slightly.
