One Year's Practice

Well, I had more time than I've ever had before.
I don't need to tell you how crazy last year was.
I set out to record/document how much practise I did over 365 days. I practised for a total of 330 hours (that's just under 14 days for you simple people) and that's just the time I had recorded. If you include ear training as practice then we'd need to multiply that by at least a single digit number - there is always a song playing in my head, whether I like it or not. I don't listen to music as a listener and I think I'm missing out on a lot because of it.
What I take from this experiment is fourfold -
- I learned to create smaller goals with more realistic expectations
- There is such a thing as too much practise
- I make music for me
- I am not my body
...there are probably more but you don't want to hear them.
I'm three weeks late in making a review video for last year. No one noticed. Not even me. And that's ok. This experiment hasn't made the slightest bit of difference to the world. However I do think that I'm better prepared for it. This track is a demo that had been in the works for a while. I hope it moves someone out there.
